I have noticed that if I think too much about sustainability issues, pondering on the local and global scale, I tend to slip into the mindset of Hamlet, wondering about the meaning of it all with an imaginary skull in my hand, standing on a mountain of waste…
To be, or not to be: that is the question:
Whether ’tis nobler in the mind to suffer
The slings and arrows of outrageous consumption,
Or to take arms against a sea of troubles,
And by voluntary simplifying end them?
To consume: to sleep; No more;
and by consumption to say we end
The heart-ache and the thousand natural shocks
That flesh is heir to,’tis a consummation
Devoutly to be wish’d?
